Kindle Fire 2 - What it Should Feature to Win the Tablet Battle

As you know we are still thrilled about the Kindle Fire 2 official release date which is set for August the 7th, while the revealing is expected on the 31st of July. These news sound rather good but do not tell us that much about the actual device. So how much to we know about the Kindle Fire 2 specs based on actual information and rumors? Well there is some solid information, as well as many rumors, but let us not be concerned about that right now. Let us see what the new device must have in order to win the battle on the low-end tablet market.

Kindle Fire 2 Screen and Resolution Must be Better
So let us start with something most of us will first notice on the tablet - the screen size and resolution, as well as the quality. The first generation had a resolution of 1024 x 600 which was solid with its 7 inch screen and 169 pixels per inch. The Nexus 7 sets the bar at 1280 x 800 which is quite impressive when you look at it and since they are competitors in the same price range, the Kindle Fire 2 has to follow and produce the same if not better. Other tablets on the market that have this resolution are a bit more expensive, such as the Toshiba Thrive which starts at $380 so those won't be a major concern for the Amazon team.

Storage Space
As you know the first generation of the tablets had "only" 8 GB of storage space and the Google Nexus 7 priced at $199 also has this much. Neither feature the SD Card support which is a huge blow, however, the Nexus 7 comes in a 16 GB configuration for $249. Since there will certainly be a few of the Kindle Fire 2 models we can expect to see 16 GB as well, but perhaps at a lower price if the tablet really wants to sell! SD Card support would also be rather nice.

Better Design and Slimmer Body
It is certain that a design doesn't really impact the quality of the what's going on under the hood and we should certainly not be buying tablets or any other device based on looks. However, a metal casing (which was announced) and slimmer body (also confirmed) will certainly be a good improvement. Just how good this will be can't say for sure. You can have a look at the Kindle Fire 2 renders from t3n.de and see how these groups of talented individuals see the new tablet device. I must say that if Amazon comes up with something similar then that would certainly be quite nice.

Better CPU!
Seeing as the Kindle Fire 2 runs a forked version of Android OS that will be heavily modified it will certainly be using less CPU as it is an OS that is clearly optimized for just that tablet. Even so, a better CPU is something we are always on the lookout for and a quad-core is what is currently needed to beat Google and the Tegra 3 on their Nexus 7. My bet is that the new tablet will certainly be sporting a quad core processor to be competitive.

A Camera Feature
This is certainly not a must for most people, but it is one of the highlighted things on the specs sheets on various review websites and it is something people will be judging the tablets by. The Google Nexus 7 took the lead with a 1.2 MP camera on the front for video chat, video calls and Google Hangouts, and Amazon should at least follow that minimum. However, a recent rumor said that it will feature a back camera as well. This sounds grate and could be a major threat for the Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 which is priced at $250. I am certain though that this feature might be reserved for some of the larger models and not the $199 7 inch one, although it would be a very nice thing to include.

Kindle FIre 2 Model Render Released by T3n.de

This isn't a Kindle Fire 2 official image but a render made by the popular portal of 3D artists over at t3n.de who have done similar things in the past. While these images don't mean anything on their own, they do make us ask ourselves if this what the Kindle Fire 2 we wanted and imagined seeing. Their 3D model is made based on the following rumored Kindle Fire 2 specs:
  •     Metal casing
  •     Quad-Core processor
  •     Camera
  •     1280 x 800 resolution
Without further discussion here are some of the model photos of the Kindle Fire 2! Click on any of the photos to view them all in gallery mode.

A white design? Interesting concept and there's the camera!
Those of you still unsure about the possible camera, read up on the article - Kindle Fire 2 to feature a camera and see the first leaked photos which did showcase a back camera!

And finally let us look at the display screen:

Looks like fun ay?
So to summarize once again - these images to do mean anything and they are just artistic impressions similar to the "fake" iPhone 5 concept design. This particular design is inspired by a report from the magazine Boy Genius Report which among other things claims:

The build quality of the Kindle 2  may have been improved significantly compared with the first generation - instead of in a plastic casing, the new devices to be clad in metal.

What we do know for sure is that the Kindle Fire 2 will soon hit the stores and we may get the first glimpse of it by the end of the month and have it in our hand by early or mid August with the official Kindle Fire 2 release date being set to August the 7th.

What do you think of this "new" design?

Kindle Fire 2 Looking More Promising: Game Circle Announced !

Reading on the comments around the web, people have noted that Amazon has great content to offer to their users when it comes to music, movies and even books. However, the content concerning apps and games is a bit limited. You can consider the latest feature - Amazon Game Circe, to be something that will sort this problem out and attract more developers. Essentially, this is a special API that will allow developers to easily implement achievements, badges, leaderboards and options to save your game progress on a Amazon cloud server. The last is especially great because it allows you to safe your game progress to your account and then if you switch your device you can just start from whee you last stopped playing.

While many will say that his Amazon Game Circle is just a copy of Apple's Game Center, I don't really see the importance of that. The two systems work for two totally different devices devices and will each have their own special features. What concerns me is the release of this feature which corresponds the the approach Kindle Fire 2 release date which is obviously something they are probably keeping in mind. Is this another way to get users to buy the new device? I am almost certain that is! And we might be seeing more goodies like this these days. Here is the promotion video that Amazon made.

Do you like what you see? While nothing special it is certainly a useful feature, especially the option to save my games files on a cloud. From what I recall Google and Android don't have something like that right? Boom, another trump card over the Nexus 7! I wonder if this move will actually attract more developers, because if it does then the argument that the Amazon App Store has little content will be void and that will certainly increase the sales of the Kindle Fire 2 device, and all future tablets.

What is your opinion? Shout it out in the comments bellow!

Kindle Fire 2 or the Kindle Inferno?

Unknown | 5:22 PM | 0 comments
Amazon's Kindle started a real fire, but is the latest one going to be an raging, burning Inferno?! There is still quite some time to go until the official release of the new tablet, but we are still baffled by the name. Sure, we are used to calling it the Kindle Fire 2, but is that really the name? And another question is - does it even matter? We would also like to focus on the Amazon VS Apple battle with this latest research graph:

No matter the name the only thing we as buyers are interested in are the performance and the use of the tablet. That being said, I care about the Kindle Fire's latest specs more than anything. But the name does really leave a huge impact on those who are considering what to buy, doesn't it? Here are the two possibilities:
The Kindle Fire 2 -> reminds us of the reliable brand and thus it can get all the owners of the previous one to trade their device in for the newest one. The downside is that those who didn't like the previous one will (in most cases) not even consider this tablet. Another advantage for Amazon is that they don't have to spend money on the branding of a new product and that's always a good thing in this changing economy.
The Kindle Inferno -> loses the sound of the old 'Fire' brand and those who don't know it is actually the latest installment in the franchise may not give it much attention. On the other hand, the product will appeal to newer buyers as it will really look like a brand new, amazing device.

I like the name 'Kindle Inferno' to be honest. If the last one was a fire, then by now that fire has really grown into an inferno of massive proportions. However, I also don't really care about the name as I have stated previously. Do you? Do names of devices sometime influence the way you think about them?

Anyway, where did this whole name come from? Ah, of course, from an unknown source close to Amazon! Where do these insiders come from? Do they wear black suits and sunglasses when they carry their suitcase around with them? And could they tell us something more about the current version of the release date? It is sort of funny and I am not even taking the name seriously, but the subject of the Kindle's new name is really a good one and worth talking.

Take the Samsung Galaxy series for example, the names go like this: S, S2 and now they will release S3. They made a very reputable and popular brand and that's a really good job. Amazon has something quite similar and there is really no need to change it. Then again, the competitor Apple is very strong on the market, and Amazon needs more attention. Are they going to come up with a new name to spark the marketing campaign? Possible, but not really needed...

The Kindle Fire 2 Rumor Round-up

Unknown | 5:12 PM | 0 comments
Ah, the latest rumors of the new Amazon Kindle Fire 2 launch which has unofficially been scheduled for July 31st, 2012 are quickly taking over the blog-sphere. Perhaps it is only Samsung and Apple who can do a better job at starting a whole line of debates across the Internet community when it comes to their upcoming products.

The words throughout the street would be that Amazon already provided us the Kindle Fire 2 release date penciled in on July 31st. Is this a true release date or is Amazon trying to rain on Google Nexus 7 tablet's parade? However, credible business insiders are telling us, with a lot of self-assurance, that the upgraded 7-inch Amazon will not be the only new kindle we will see this year. Are these the rumored Coyote and Hollywood tablet we talked about in the previous article? I for one, actually don't like the idea, as a 8.9 inch tablet is as large as I would be willing to buy. What about you, my dear readers? Well, in any case, read on!

Kindle Fire 2 Has Big Shoes to Fill!
While the initial Kindle Fire had been incredibly prospering and did its job in jump-starting the reasonably priced tablet PC marketplace very well within its very own right, critics were lower than convinced that its synthetic plastic casing was actually as much as par. Therefore, a drastically improved spec sheet and full metal casing is likely to be what is needed to see the Amazon Kindle Fire 2 take the top of the market!

While many talk of it as a possible iPad killer, the main competition will probably be the Google Nexus 7 which is already threatening the first kindel's rule over the low-end market. We already talked on the topic of the Nexus 7 vs Kindle Fire 2 and won't waste more time disusing it. The conclusion remains that the Nexus 7 has busted the old kindle, but the new one may possibly retake the throne due to improved specs and better offers when it comes to the content from the Amazon stores and libraries (books, movies, music etc).

The Rumor List
The Kindle Fire 2 release date stays a mystery and you can see the change log of rumors that we kept track of here which shows the many versions of the story. So when will the new Kindle Fire 2 be out? Well, it is expected to be revealed on July 31st which means it will probably be on sale during August. So far our posts did a good job of guessing what will happen. Observe:
  1. First we announced that Amazon might be dropping the price of the first model which seemed like a logical move and common tactic.
  2. Then we also announced they will not just the drop by $50 but clear inventory to make room for the new device.
  3. Finally the unofficial Kindle Fire 2 release date was posted!
But what will the Kindle Fire 2 bring? Will it be a good tablet? Here a few thoughts:
  • The new kindle's specs are just up for show and there isn't too many information yet.
  • There will be several models, including a 9 inch model with full HD. The Hollywood tablet is still just a rumor.
  • The device will feature a metal case body.
  • New details also say that the device will have two physical volume keys and a camera.
So that's really all that we have for now. If you have any news of your own drop a comment down bellow!

Amazon Kindle Fire 2 with Leaked Information

Unknown | 10:51 AM | 0 comments
Amazon Kindle Fire 2, Kindle Fire 2, Kindle Fire 2 Leaked Infomation
The Kindle Fire 2 has already been reported to come to market before the Christmas holiday season which might just be the perfect release time for Kindle Fire 2. However New reports say that Kindle Fire might come in two different sizes – 7 inch and 9 inch screens. Although there is no news about the hardware or Kindle Fire 2 Specs yet, But if the new rumours are to be believed, we might see it in two different sizes. You can choose the one you like the best and prices will be different. Some people go for bigger is better, but some will prefer a regular 7 inch display screen.

But there is something you will not get from your 7 inch Kindle Fire 2 and that is the amazing full HD feature that is really stunning! How does a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels sound? Amazing huh? We believe it will be really breath taking with a lot of color depth that we haven't see on too many tablet devices so far. The Kindle Fire 2 will not be such an entry level device ay? It will surpass the previous one and a lot of the owners of the old Kindle Fire will happily trade their old friend in for the newcomer!
Imagine watching movies and browsing pictures on that full HD Kindle Fire 2.

Imagine that just for a moment and tell me it doesn't look great. This might seem link plain advertising, but have you used other tablets in the past? No tablet that was released so far will be able to compete with the Kindle Fire 2 display if it really is like the rumors say it is. But there are a few problems with the Fire 2....

With Apple’s rumours surrounding the release of a iPad Mini, the device is under pressure and might have to face challenges in market for getting some sales, but the Kindle Fire is expected to come at an affordable price just like its prequel Kindle Fire, which might well be the difference between iPad Mini and Kindle Fire 2 and might well account for success story of Kindle Fire 2.

Amazon Kindle Fire 2, Kindle Fire 2 Leaked Infomation
Problem 1: Performance and Speed
I love the Amazon kindles, but performance is a serious issue of theirs that they will have to fix very soon on the Kindle Fire 2 if they want to stay competitive. The fact is that Apple's products are faster and operate better when there are a lot of apps running.
With the Kindle  Fire you gotta be careful what apps you are using together and whether or not you left one app opened in the background. It is a really annoying thing and can ruin ones whole user experience.

Problem 2: Will it Stay Cheap?
We already talked about the Kindle Fire 2 cost but we didn't mention one thing, and that was the cost of the previous kindle. You see it costs Amazon $220 to make a devices they are selling for $199. Why are they doing that? They are just losing money right? Yes, but in the long run, they are offering you a cheap, yet great product and you will surely buy it. However, you will also buy some of their apps or other hardware and you will certainly use the Amazon Kindle Fire to...visit Amazon! For the $21 they are losing per sale, they are making a couple of hundred bucks!

The other 7-inch tablet that is rumored to be launched sometime during the Christmas season is Apple’s iPad Mini. Thus we can see two tablets from two market rivals- Amazon and Apple. Although Apple is already doing quite well in Tablet Industry, Amazon is still trying to make its way into the industry by providing the tablets in affordable prices.

Currently we do not have any concrete information about Kindle Fire 2 specs, but we promise to bring each and every detail about Kindle Fire 2 as we get it. So stay tuned for all the updates about Kindle Fire 2. Kindle Fire 2 is expected to come in two sizes, Expected release Pre-Holiday Season.

Three models of Kindle Fire 2

Unknown | 10:11 PM | 0 comments

According to previous reports from amazon will see two models of Kindle Fire 2 which is expected to come in the third quarter of the calender year, however new reports suggest that there might be just more than what we expect. New reports suggest that Amazon might be looking for three versions of Kindle Fire 2(or whatever that device is going to be get named, for the time being we will prefer to call it as Kindle Fire 2).

Amazon Kindle Fire 2 review, Amazon Kindle Fire 2

Kindle Fire 2 Screen Sizes:

Amazon is looking to launch three models of Kindle Fire 2 sometime in third quarter which will be aiming to get a hold on the tablet market. Kindle Fire has been a huge success in the Tablet market which was second to just Apple’s iPad, however Amazon will be looking to narrow the gap between Apple and Amazon in the tablet industry by launching three new tablets. According to a number of Taiwanese publications we are set to see three versions of Amazon's next Android-powered tablet: two 7-inch models and an 8.9-inch variant. Two of the tablets(Kindle Fire 2) will feature a screen size of 7 inch with different screen resolutions one with the budget friendly 1024 x 600 display and other prices mid-range for a 1280 x 800 screen resolution.

However the third Kindle Fire 2 is going to pack a full HD (1920 x 1200) display which is going to be the main driving tablet for Amazon and will compete against Apple’s iPad mini(or Apple iPad). At this time we have no other news, however if the reports about the HD Display are believed to be true, It certainly will give some tough time for Apple’s new iPad.

One of the driving factor for the huge number of sales for Kindle Fire was its affordable price, and we expect Amazon to launch the new Kindle Fire 2 in the same price range as well. So keeping that in mind, Apple will be closely following the developments for Kindle Fire 2. Stay connected to Kindle Fire 2 as we promise to bring all the latest developments regarding the upcoming Amazon Tablet.

No other details are known at this time, but if the reports are true expect the 8.9-inch version, with its HD display, to compete with the new iPad.

Apple may be looking over its shoulder as Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet was very competitively priced and we expect the same from the next generation.
